Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician

Vital Members of Health Care Teams

Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technicians are vital members of health care teams. They perform diagnostic tests - EKGs (also known as ECG’s) - that are instrumental in helping doctors identify cardiovascular problems in patients. EKGs may reveal irregularities in the heart that help doctors provide appropriate care and treatment.  EKG technicians provide patient education to individuals by explaining the steps involved with the procedure before administering the exam. They also monitor heart performance during the exam.

EKG Technicians work in hospitals, physician practices, urgent care offices and long-term care facilities.

Students will learn:

  • anatomy and physiology
